THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

KNITTING:
knitting is the first production phase where the yarn is processed by eletronically controlled circular machines. The thickness of different yarns are expressed in deniers (30 den, 40 den, 50 den etc.). Higher the deniers are, thicker the yarn in question is.
The hosiery tubes are white, and show more or less visible horizontal lines, that depend on the used yarns and on the way they have been inserted in the knit during the process.
There are three different methods to insert the elastane yarn in the tights.
LAID-IN: the most economical pantyhose are produced by inserting the raw elastane in every two courses without knitting it in.
KNITTED: a strand of raw or covered elastane is inserted in every two courses.
This is the most commonly used technique.
LYCRA 3D: a state-of-the-art technique, it consists of incorporating covered elastane in all courses. In this way, the product is particularly comfortable and featured by particular fit, stretch, knit uniformity and ladder strength.

ASSEMBLING:

the two tight tubes are sewn together to form the pantyhose. The sewing process is extremely important as it will, in part, determine the fit and comfort. The mostly used sewing processes are:
AUTOMATIC SEAM: automatic machines, which cut and sew, join the two legs, insert the gusset and close the toes.
FLAT SEAM: done by hand. Flat seams are more comfortable as they eliminate the raised seam. In this case, the gusset is inserted by hand.

DYEING AND FIXING:
the assembled tight tubes are dyed and treated with softeners by using special equipment. Then, a hydro-extraction eliminates the residual water. The damp product is then sent to boarding, where it undergoes a heat-treatment, which irons and stabilises the yarn. The stitches are now totally uniform, soft and compact.
There are two ways of boarding: the first is full-boarding, that gives to the tights the foot-shape, which gives to the product a sophisticated and exclusive look and helps in wearing the product correctly. The second method is called half-boarding, that is more economic one and gives to the product straight shape.

TREATMENTS:
during the working process, the hosiery gets the following treatments: Softeners: during the dyeing process the product is made softer with softeners.
Fragrances: special fragrances can be applied during the dyeing process.
Antiperspirants: favours the skin to breath. Anti-bacteria:avoids the bacteria forming. Important to remind that the dyeing process of Omero products has the OEKO.TEX STANDARD 100 certification, that protects the final consumer against health risks caused by chemical substances on textiles. In fact, this certification examines that the textile products are not harmful for humans and for the nature. The control methods are based on scientific researches (important to determine the security on the textile products). Due to this, each yarn type must respect the required standards and this is verified and approved on yearly basis. In this way, the methods are revised every year with the latest laws and research updates. More a textile enters in touch with the skin, more detailed are the human-ecological requirements that the product has to fulfil.

PACKING:

all the hosiery items are packed in different type of cardboard boxes and/or sleeves. This process can be automatic or manual. In case of Omero all articles are hand-packed in elegant cardboard sleeves. The function of a pack, in addition to protect the product, is also to communicate to the final consumer the characteristics of the product and the brand.
